Why Hire an Interior Designer?

Starting an Interior Design project, large or small, may seen a little overwhelming but it does not need to be. Carefuly hiring the correct Interior Designer can make your project come to life and allow the process to become an amazing experience without all the stress.

As an Interior Designer, I have a four year degree from an accredited University as well as 30 years experience working with clients. Basically, I have seen it all! My knowledge and experience allows me to envision a project, develop the best design plan, and follow it through to completion.

How does it all begin? The first thing I do for my clients is get to know them and find out what are their needs and desires, discuss with them how they plan to use each space, their vision for the overall feel of each room, their budget, and the time frame in which they want to complete the project. To achieve this, it is important that I listen, observe, and discuss each goal so I can consider all the options. Once that is accomplished, I go to work to assemble the perfect plan that is both beautiful and functional. Another important reasons to hire an Interior Designer is their access to resourses that you will not have searching on your own. This is key to creating a unique space just for you! Once my plan is complete, I design Mood Boards to illustrate the overall design concept at a glance. This visual tool allows my clients to visualize what the space will look like once it is complete and make any changes if needed. Mood Boards are great to assure that everyone is on the same page.

What about the current trends? Trends are an important aspect of Interior Design and can be super exciting to follow but at the end of the day the most important aspect about where a person lives is creating an atmosphere that makes them happy. It needs to be a place that is functional for their lifestyle and that every space of their home reflects all the things they LOVE! This includes every detail from Color Scheme, Fabrics, Furniture, Accessories, Artwork, Floorcoverings, Window Coverings, Lighting, Hardware, Space Planning, etc. It's all in the details!

This leads me to the myth that Interiors Designers are expensive and the question you may ask "Can I afford one"? The answer is YES! An Interior Design project is a big undertaking which has large risks if you choose not to hire a professional. After making a big investment of time and money and not getting the results you anticipated is not only a disappointment but a waste of time and money. It always cost more to correct mistakes later. Over the years, I have had so many clients express to me how I saved them, not only stress, but lots of money by guiding them into making the correct decision and avoiding expensive mistakes. Find a designer that will listen to your needs and desires, someone you have a connection with, that can guide you through the process without pushing their own personal style that does not feel right for you.
